Environmentally Friendly Aviation for all Classes of Aircraft
EFACA is a project co-funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe Programme, inserted on the Climate, Energy and Mobility cluster aiming at fighting climate change by 2050.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
EFACA project intends to promote an aviation sector more climate and environmentally friendly with the development of new technologies by using electric and hybrid thermoelectric propulsions and new sustainable fuels to replace fossil fuels.
About EFACA
EFACA is a project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. It aims to support the greening of the EU’s aviation industry by testing a hybrid turbo-electric propulsion system for a propeller-driven regional aircraft, while also tacking areas such as fuel cells with both conventional and novel cooling mechanisms.
Objectives & Actions
EFACA aims to achieve its goals by putting forward six main objectives divided into three levels which are presented below:
- Level 1: Three TRL3 demonstrations of technologies relevant to the greening of aviation;
- Level 2: Considers 4 clasess of aircraft: (i) small, (ii) regional, (iii) single and (iv) twin aisle, including preliminary designs of (ii) and (iii);
- Level 3: Road map for the achievement of the EU environmental targets for aviation synthetizing.
